With November coming to a wrap, I head into my last 3 weeks of school. Tests have been piling up so I have been spending a lot time studying and doing work. Recently, I volunteered again with Mathgik and will start up with Grace Life in the new year. Basketball season has also started up so I have practices and games 6 times a week.
One thing I’ve been wondering recently is how homelessness is affecting the safety of California, and ways to solve this crisis. Nothing can be resolved quickly, so how do we fix this problem? Homelessness has only been increasing in the past years and this causes harm to the communities all over the Bay. A big problem that causes homelessness is drug use and vice versa- these two issues are directly related. Due to fentanyl and other drugs making there way through the country, these narcotics are no help to the epidemic on drug trafficking and homelessness. There are many unintentional consequences that stem from solutions to these problems and help influence today’s issues. One for instance is high housing costs and crowded shelter spaces. If we can work on fixing these problems, homelessness rates will drop. Additionally, if we can work on securing the borders and stopping drug trafficking, I believe we can stop death rates all over the country and homelessness too.
I just want to try and figure out how to fix these problems that I see in my everyday life. Soon, I will try to find another place where I can learn and volunteer to help try and solve global issues that us as humans face.
