Start of Sophomore Year 8/16/23

My sophomore year of high school has finally began and as of right now, classes are getting into the swing of things. For this year, I want to try and get maintain a strong start to the year so I don’t have to stress at the end for an A. Overall, my biggest goal is to get A’s in all my courses and to achieve this, I will need to work hard consistently.

Right now, my favorite class would have to be chemistry. I enjoy the topics we are learning in class and am able to understand the topic and concept well so far. One thing that I am curious about is how scientists come up with tests or experiments. In class, we learned about a gold foil experiment where a scientist would use a machine to shoot alpha particles through a gold foil to see how the particles scatter after. Through this test, they were able to determine that something was in the middle of the atom, which is the nucleus. It are tests like these that make me wonder how people conduct research and find out new information through these things that sound weird to normal people.

I plan to continue with my work and studying so hopefully, I can get the results I want this year.
