With school starting up again in 9 days, summer is finally coming to an end. These past two weeks, I’ve been spending my time relaxing and volunteering a little.
Last week, I started volunteering with cooking for the homeless again and I’ve noticed how much I enjoy doing this. I’ve always loved to cook so being able to have fun while making a difference feels good. It’s not everyday these people are able to get fresh cooked meals so being able to provide them with a hot meal is something I am sure they appreciate a lot.
I also began volunteering with this new non-profit organization created by my cousin called Mathgik. Every Saturday, they run an hour long abacus class for young students in less fortunate areas. Everything is provided so the students don’t have to bring anything to class. I am glad I can use my previous knowledge from learning abacus when I was younger to help these kids learn and have fun. There are about 10-15 kids that show up every class so my cousins and I split up to help them when they need it. Abacus is something very helpful for students when it comes to being comfortable with numbers so it is good that we can help them out in that area.
Schedules are coming out next week so hopefully, I will get most of the classes I requested. For my sophomore year, I will be taking: Alg II/Trig H, Chem H, AP CSA, Spanish 3H, and the given English, History and PE. Since I’ve been acclimated with High School life, I will hopefully be able to get the grades I want.
