My first year of high school basketball has come to an end and now I have more time to focus on my academics. We are heading into a four-day weekend and I plan on volunteering with the homeless again next week. I have been looking into more college summer programs and one I found that has interested me is Stanford’s Online Environmental Solutions.
During the course, you will tackle problems we face in climate and figure out solutions to solve them. In some ways, it is related to Global Health in the sense that you work on fixing this problem for the whole of Earth and not just a part of it. This program combines earth and physical science with social science in one and that is something that I find interesting.
One thing with living in the Bay Area is when you go to the beaches out here, they are littered with trash and very unkept. It is more important than ever to take care of our Earth before it is too late and that is why I think this summer institute is significant to face problems. When I look for these summer programs, a big factor is what can I do with it? Will I be able to benefit or help anyone?
As I continue to search for these programs, maybe I will be able to grow a larger understanding for what I want to do in the future and majors that may interest me.
