Global Health 1/29/23

School is starting to pick up pace as we start to head into the second semester. Basketball season is coming to a wrap with only three more games left in the season. I started volunteering by serving food for the homeless two weeks ago, and I plan on continuing. Even though the change is small, I still want to try and make a difference.

Recently, a lot of my time has been preoccupied with applying for summer programs. One in particular that I am looking at is Duke’s Engineering Solutions for Global Health. One thing that interests me about this topic is how it benefits the WHOLE of the people, not just a certain population. Global Health works to fix problems we face in crises all over the world such as cancer, homelessness and more. I have expressed my feelings on the homeless situation in California and Global Health is something that can help the struggling population.

At this camp, you would design and build a prototype solution to a problem. Through teamwork and STEM, it helps focus on facing challenges that effect the Globe. I am still in search of what I want to do in the future, but maybe it has something to do with Global Health. In the end, I just want to make a difference and do something good.
