Favorite Subject 11/13/22

As of right now, I am edging near ¾ of my first semester in highschool. So far, I have learned a lot of new things and am still adjusting to the rigaments needed to succeed. Basketball season will be starting soon, and that’s something I am looking forward to.

My favorite subject that I am taking as of right now would probably have to be social studies because of the learning environment and how it is taught. I feel it is easy to comprehend the topic and I am able to soak in all the knowledge my teacher is giving.

We just wrapped up learning about the Haitian Revolution and will be moving on to the Industrial Revolution soon, as that will be the last unit before the end of the semester. One thing I found interesting about the Haitian Revolution is how little coverage it gets in textbooks compared to other revolutions. For something so significant like being the only true successful revolt and barely getting any recognition, it shows that even today there is still systematic racism that refuses to glorify the victory of the enslaved.

I think my favorite project I have done so far was watching the first Harry Potter movie in English class and learning about a hero’s journey. It was nice to have a little change for once and a relaxing few periods of class. The simplest things like this help ease the stress of school and make it a lot more enjoyable.
